The climate of the Canary Islands is subtropical and is influenced by the trade wind belt. This generally affects Fuerteventura, as the island consists mainly of flat land and there are no mountain formations that could slow down the trade wind currents. This is the main reason why the second largest island in the Canary Islands has gusty winds all year round with very little rainfall.

Fuerteventura is also known as the “island of eternal spring” because it is pleasantly warm here all year round and the climate is very balanced. In contrast to other vacation destinations in the Canary Islands, Fuerteventura is very dry, with only around 150 mm of rainfall per year.

The hottest months: July and August
